Litter preferences seem to vary from cat to cat. I’m lucky that my cats are pretty flexible and go with whatever I’ve tried. The only one they absolutely refused to use was the pine-based ones! I think the chunks are huge and uncomfortable. If you switch, do it little by little (add the new brand into the old) and always choose something natural: they lick their paws and they’ll ingest whatever you have them stand in!
Dome litter box
by BoodaTo me, the Booda Dome is the ultimate in litter box design: no corners to clean. My weekly thorough cleaning is so easy with a few swipes around in circles around it. The rim could’ve been improved: there’s a slight ridge where dust can settle and it requires more attention than the rest does to clean. This fits perfectly inside my outhouse designs.

by Swheat ScoopYou may remember that I’m advising cats do not ingest grains and they’re bound to with Swheat Scoop. But I certainly approve of that over much of the commercial stuff that’s out there that contains who-knows-what that they may ingest. I would be happier with this litter if the clumps didn’t become solidly glued to the box. It gets to the point you feel you’d need a chisel to remove! But the advantages are clay-free, chemical free and biodegradable.

by Blue BuffaloI’m all for this Naturally Fresh litter: it is seemingly healthy on the paws and all they groom after the box, clumps really well, biodegradable, and smells pleasant (really smells like walnut wood furniture!). They’ve really improved the formula: my first reaction years back was that it was far too dusty. Given that it is ground walnut shell, they must be processing it with finer sifters now, or something. It was well accepted by my three cats. If squirrels could open the locked container of this stuff, they’d be disappointed (when I see them circling it, they must be thinking there has to be one nut in there!).

by World's BestVery high quality litter (as it ought to be with a name like “World’s Best”). I used this for years until I settled on Naturally Fresh. What’s great about this all natural litter is that it clumps well, has little odor, and is biodegradable and safe for cats. What I don’t love is that mice, snails and moths love it too! After loose containers showed me that issue, the tighter ones could only keep the mice away, but snails would still come in and play! It was disgusting and not ok. But it did prove that it was healthy enough for cats to ingest. If your litter is stored indoors, this is a fantastic product for your cats.
